Artifacts
This page contains artifacts that describes me as a student
Virtual Team Challenge
in this challenge, we were given a team to work with and were challenged by a series of problems. These problems promoted research and difficult decision making, which ended up honing our skills as individual leaders as well as a organization.
District Provided Ipad
This is the school district given ipad that we were given at the beginning of the year. This Ipad has taught me about leadership in many ways and has also taught me how to be a good student. It taught me how to be responsible in the fact that I had to keep up with my ipad all year and have it charged and ready every day. It also taught me how to be a good student because I had to learn how to integrate the ipad into my daily school routine and use the technological advantage that it offered.
Team Building Exersise
This picture was taken when the whole present and future ALA program took a field trip to Saluda shoals to participate in team building exercises. (sorry for the bad quality!) On this field trip we learned how to bond together as a team and family, and we became closer as a group of friends.
Ap Human Geography Exam
This year, I took my first AP exam, Human Geography. It was the hardest test I have ever taken up to this point in my school career. I had to prepare all year for this exam and by doing this it has helped my studying habits improve.
Poetry Video
For this assignment, I made a video about a poem called "The Buffalo Coat" by Thomas McGrath. This poem talks about development and how it affected the native Americans in a negative way. throughout the duration of this project, I had to use new technology I had never used before such as iMovie. This process of making my own movie taught me how to deal with adversity such as the introduction of new technology. (P.S.- I am working on getting the actual video on the website now!)
Book Presentation
For this E.L.A. book project, I had to make another video on a choice book I read. My choice Book was "Unbroken" by Laura Hillenbrand, a true war story. in this book, Louie (main character) is taken as a P.O.W. and has to remain strong for the duration of his stay at the internment camps. this book taught me the importance of mental as well as physical strength in the real world, for without both of these things Louie would not have survived. (P.S.- also working on getting this video on!)
Spanish Childhood Project
In this Spanish project, I had to make a whole movie in Spanish about my childhood. this project showed me how important it was to be able to use my friends and other resources around me. For example, I had to use my friend Noah Swingle to help me translate some of the English phrases into Spanish. This project also was also a good way for me to exercise my technological skills in iMovie.
I.E.D. Birdhouse
This project, though still a work in progress, I believe shows my creativity as engineer as well as a designer. Though this project may seem silly on the outside, it actually is a very sophisticated piece of work that took extreme skill and talent, as well as a little help from Coach Bob Taylor, the engineering teacher. this project was extremely, and still is, frustrating to make, yet it taught me to never give up on my ideas.
Chemistry Mentos Project
This project was one that we were assigned in chemistry during the winter, which ended up playing a big factor in the project. We were required to do a formal lab write up for the data we collected. Collecting the data was extremely hard because it was freezing cold and it made it hard to perform the experiment. This experiment taught me that sometimes you just have to "deal with it", which is what I had to do in the cold.
This Portfolio!
This portfolio actually is a great artifact for me to talk about purely because it describes me as a student perfectly. This portfolio was extremely hard to make, and I could not be any prouder than the final product. This portfolio taught me one especially large lesson; don't leave giant projects like this one to the last minute or you will only get four hours of sleep that night. Procrastination is a bad habit and this portfolio has taught me that.
